Feeling better

It would seem that it takes a little longer than a week for the Gemzar to get out of my system, as today is the first day that I have not felt mildly nauseous.  Indeed, I began a blog yesterday that said something along the lines of, “It’s not fair that I feel sick when I haven’t had chemo this week!”  Luckily, those feelings have seemed to ebb and I have something of an appetite today.

Last night I took MaryBeth to a concert by her favorite artist, Steven Curtis Chapman.  I am not much for the Christian rock music genre, but MaryBeth really likes it and the concert gave us an excuse to get out alone together.  We hadn’t had a ‘date’ in a while.  It was nice to have some alone time with her.

Things should be generally calm this weekend. I hope you all have a good weekend.

  1. Glad to hear you enjoyed a “date night.” They are rare and wonderful things in my family. Dave and I do one overnight anniversary trip each year–sans 5 y/o–at a nice B & B and have “date nights” maybe once every couple of months or if there’s a concert we really want to see. (We struggled to find a late-night sitter on a Wed. night to see Radiohead. And last year Dave took me to see a singer-songwriter named Willy Porter, about whom I knew literally nothing. Turns out it was an awesome show and now I’m a fan. It was worth the trouble.)

Nights out seem like a frivolous luxury until we all get home together as a family again and we’re all so much nicer to each other…

As for calm weekends, these are rare and wonderful things, too. Enjoy!

  2. Of course, Unitarian rock music is the scene to watch in the coming decade. All the cool kids in Boston with their underground clubs.

I’ve got Lou Harrison’s recording of the Heart Sutra sung in Esperanto around here somewhere. The shape of things to come.

  3. Will have to check out up-and-coming Unitarian bands and Lou Harrison, for that matter. I hope some of these Boston groups make it out to the Midwest.

BTW, Willy Porter casually identifies himself as a Unitarian–he’s got a song called “Jesus on the Grille,”–which speculates, WWJD if you saw Him on the Interstate on the front of a Peterbilt.

And Merle, I hope you had a good, quease-free weekend.
