Hello from ICU
i am alive and well, if not just a bit sore My day started off well as the nursing staff removed my breathing tube (thank goodness — my those things are uncomfortable). since then, various other tubes and lines have removed and i am looking less and less like a Borg drone.
Not unsurprisingly, my belly hurts quite a bit; but only when I take deep breathes, or switch positions in my chair. The big excitement today was that Gina, my nurse, had me stand up (OUCH) and walk around the floor. All things considered, the hardest part of the exercise was the standing and sitting; par…once I was up, the walking was a piece of cake.
I’ll write more later, but i wanted to let you all know how much your support and caring means to me. Thank you, one and all!
Merle
WooHoo! So glad that everything went so well and that you are already up and moving – we’re hoping that your recovery is easy! See you soon, Ele and Daniel
Sounds as if you are well on your way to a speedy recovery – how amazing is it that you are already up and about?!?! God did real good when He created us…
So great to hear directly from you, although Mary Beth’s message was greatly appreciated yesterday! Thank you, both, for not letting us worry for too long – I know worrying is supposedly a waste of time, yet impossible to refrain from in certain situations.
Lindy and Patrick
Hooray for you! Walking already? You’ll be running and back in the gym in no time…. Thanks so much to you and Mary Beth for the timely updates. It was such a relief to hear your good news so quickly. We are pulling for you every day. Congratulations to you, Mary Beth, and your family for all of this great news. See you when you get back.
Take it easy Merle. I’m so glad it went well. Here’s hoping the painkillers do their job, even though the doctors always seem to prescribe them when we’re in too much pain to enjoy the effects. (Can’t wait to compare scars next time we meet! Woo hoo!)
Love and hugs and kisses,
Cat
YEAH !!!
THINKING OF YOU AND HOPING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY

Hi Merle!
So glad the surgery went well and that you are beginning the healing process. Good to hear that you’re up and around a little bit. Take it easy and get plenty of rest if you can. Hope your recovery is smooth and the pain’s not too bad.
Best wishes,
Kerri and Mark

Merle,
I never doubted that you wouldn’t come through your surgery and I look forward to your complete and full recovery! We need your spirit and personna to help us with life’s menial tasks but more importantly the endeavors of Woodbadge and the completion of your ticket items. It is my sincere hope and prayer that you will begin your full recovery and God will restore to you all the joy that life has to offer. You have been an inspiration to us all and your calmness through this adversity speaks volumes of your spirit.
Yours in Scouting,
GT Bishop (Ty)
