Two down…

Today was Day 2 of treatment. I had my radiation treatment and headed into work (forgetting a doctor’s appointment this morning). While at the office, though, I started feeling nauseous and tired. I was surprised at how tired I was; particularly given that Dr. Kauh told me that the first couple of weeks would be the easiest. I’m just hoping that my body will adapt to the chemicals and perhaps tomorrow I will not feel quite so yucky. i will say that I am feeling better this evening; so perhaps the fatigue and nausea is more associated with the radiation.

Just thinking about you and cheering you on for more treatments -stay strong!
Hey there, Merle,
I wanted to share with you my experience – my first round of chemo was the worst because they didn’t know yet what was going to work for me for the nausea. I hope they’ve given you something for that. The first treatment I had Zofran and Compazine. Needless to say they didn’t work for me and I was allergic to one of them. No one ever told me the first couple of weeks would be the worst – in fact, they told me the opposite, but to expect to be sick the first round till they figured out what nausea med worked. I had chemo on Wednesday and was home sick on Friday. However, after that the only other time that I missed work due to chemo was the last two treatments. If you get sick give it 24 hours but continue to take the meds they give you for nausea. But be sure to let them know you’re having problems.
It will help you more then anything if you put yourself to bed for a few days this round – your body needs to sleep this stuff off, Merle. For me, it took about five days to really start feeling better. Please listen to your body.
Rest well, my friend,
Rhonda
