Support for Pancreas Cancer Research
As I mentioned previously, last weekend I found a group of children in the neighborhood raising money for childhood cancer via Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Shortly after being diagnosed, I was walking into one of the ‘Evil Empire‘ stores and there was someone dressed as a clown collecting money for the American Cancer Society. My friend, Natalie, dedicated her Relay for Life walk, in part, to me and now my sister in law, Susan, is similarly participating in a Relay for Life event in NJ. Our family has had our UNFAIR share of cancers this year: my father continues to recover from his lung cancer surgery (they removed the upper portion of his right lung and, well, then there’s me.
Unfortunately, pancreas cancer is one of the most underfunded research areas in cancer. As I have mentioned, Randy Pausch has given congressional testimony in order to raise awareness. PanCan is an organization whose goal is to support pancreas cancer patients, support and advance pancreas cancer research, and give people with pancreas cancer hope for the future.
