Round 3

So Week 3 has begun.  I’m tired, but that may be more about going to bed late last night than the continuation of my treatment.  My bloodwork is generally still okay, but my white and red bloodcell and platelet counts are starting to drop (though, I’m still within normal ranges.  Just something to keep checking.

The weekend was enjoyable; I really enjoyed having time with my daughter.  The boys had a great time with their Boy Scout Troop at their water weekend (swimming, boating, tubing), while MaryBeth had a good time attending the wedding of our former Nanny (she watched our oldest son when he was 1).

I feel like I should write something more substantial, but I am tired and grumpy and am just not feeling inspired.

Cheers,

Merle

  1. Hi-My name is Cherie and I am a friend of your brother Sid and his wife Susan here in NJ. We are neighbors and friends and I have come to know them pretty well. What is funny is that I am a typical Italian American Roman Catholic jersey Girl ( basically a nightmare )and they are very different in many ways but we cherish each others differences. I have seen Sid run a line of balloons in the Macy’s day parade, white jumpsuit, whistle- very impressive, working the powertools at home – very impressive- when Ryan looks just like him when he makes a joke- impressive- but what has impresed me most about Sid has been the way he has expressed his love for you, particularly clearly since you’ve been challenged with this illness. Susan says you have the same dry sense of humor and when Sid tells me stories about you there is awlays a teary but sparkly look in his eye-smirk on his face -referencing your wit and humor.I love your blog and think you seem amazingly brave even though I don’t know you. I think when people truly love you, they can describe you in a perfect way. So Sid has described you perfectly from what I can see, and now for the pitch…So besides being their friend I am a bit of a fruitloop myself in that I am a mental health practitioner- we are all crazy which is why we do this – anyway I am allegedly an expert in police suicide and run a hotline for cops called “cop 2 cop” long story long, we had a volunteer retired cop who fought cancer for 23 years and recently passed away with many of us at is bedside- we decided to do this ACS walk on june 20th in Jersey in his honor but wanted to also focus on surviviors- here’s where you come in.. so I am the silly friend of the Hamburger family who would like to do some silly gesture to bring a smile to your face amidst this crap..so what will it be since your the genius with the wit and humor? A crazy hat? An “I’m not dead yet” billboard, a photo of you blown up doing something silly- keep it g rated please -or if you want to get mushy some message of love to your wife or kids…anything to instill hope and bring a smile to your face and I’ll do it-let me know- my email is ccaste17@aol.com Keep the faith and when you don’t I’ll keep it for you- my favorite quote as a goodbye for now- “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the oversoming of it.” helen keller
